Director of the Arab Academy Participates in the Launch Ceremony of the First Student Scientific Conference in Aden
Prof. Dr. Murad Mohammed Al-Nashmi, Director of the Yemen Branch of the Arab Academy for Management, Banking and Financial Sciences, participated on Thursday, 16 January 2025, in Aden, in the launch ceremony of the First Student Scientific Conference, held under the theme "Towards a Research and Innovation-Friendly Scientific Environment." The conference is held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, Prime Minister, and under the supervision of H.E. Prof. Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wasabi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training.
The conference, scheduled to be held over two days in April, aims to showcase students' talents and capabilities in scientific research and innovation, provide them with an opportunity to present their research and innovative projects to relevant stakeholders, promote the application of their achievements in addressing contemporary challenges, strengthen collaboration among student researchers inside and outside Yemen, and enhance the quality of scientific research while fostering students' creative potential.
In his remarks during the launch ceremony, Prof. Dr. Khaled Al-Wasabi explained that the conference is one of the outcomes of the Scholarship Conference held in January of the previous year. He emphasized the Ministry's commitment to supporting innovators and researchers as a cornerstone for achieving economic and social development and developing sustainable solutions to the challenges facing Yemen.
For his part, Dr. Mazen Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister for Scholarships, stated that the conference aims to encourage postgraduate students, both within Yemen and abroad, to present their scientific research and establish channels of academic communication between students and relevant institutions. He also announced that awards would be presented for outstanding research and innovative projects during the conference.
Dr. Ahmed Abdul Salam Al-Tuwaiji, Deputy Minister for Scientific Research, emphasized that scientific research is the foundation of national progress and a key driver of sustainable development and solutions to major challenges. He noted that since 2017, the Ministry has actively supported scientific research by funding postgraduate programs and sponsoring Yemeni scholars studying abroad, contributing to the preparation of highly qualified professionals across various disciplines.
The launch ceremony also featured a documentary showcasing the preparations for the conference, along with an overview of the participation requirements and the submission and evaluation process.
The event was attended by university presidents, deputy ministers, the Chairperson of the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education, members of the Council, directors general, and other distinguished officials.
